Focus on Good Now Registered to Do Business with U.S. Government

Focus on Good LLC is now registered with the U.S. Small Business Administration for the purpose of providing photography services to the U.S. Government.

Why?

The U.S. government is the largest customer in the world. It buys all types of products and services— including photography services— and is required by law to consider buying from small businesses.

The government is required to buy from small businesses for several reasons, including:

  • To ensure that large businesses don’t “muscle out” small businesses

  • To gain access to the new ideas that small businesses provide

  • To support small businesses as engines of economic development and job creation

How it Works

Federal agencies must publicly list their contract opportunities. They do so on one website: SAM.gov.

Some of these contracts are set aside exclusively for small businesses.

In some cases, these so-called set-aside contracts might consist of certain types of tasks on larger contracts. In others, entire contracts may be reserved for small businesses.

Contracts Awarded for Photography Services in FY 2023

  • According to USAspending.gov, a total of $3,886,573 in federal contracts for photography services was awarded in fiscal year 2023.

  • 71% of that amount ($2,774,146) went to small businesses.
